All this is just the start of the Annual MangoMania Festival. You won't want to miss the Mango tasting tables, Mango Smoothies and Mango breads! Who knew there were so many varieties of Mangos and so many recipes? The hard part will be making your selections to take home. There will be a Mango Hat Parade, Cooking contests between local restaurants, Live music and over 100 vendors selling crafts and goodies. But wait that’s not all!!! There will be a Christmas in July SNOW TENT brought to you by Eddie Barnhill Jr.’s company “Got Ice!” After you and the kids have cooled down go over and meet the Mango Queen Madam DJ and the Mango Queen Mum!

Mango Queen Madam DJ, Donna Jo (DJ) was raised in Naperville, Illinois, attended DuPage College and Western Illinois University. In 1988 DJ married Thomas Ruscik and moved to an area just outside of Orlando, where they enjoyed fishing, boating and travel. Their travels took them often to Bokeelia, Fl where DJ’s parents had a winter condo. Weekend visits became long weekends, which became week long vacations followed by longer vacations. Thomas and DJ moved permanently to Bokeelia in 1999 as they felt the Greater Pine Island community offered a very interactive and inviting life style. Soon both Thomas and DJ were involved in local organizations. In 2000 DJ joined the Matlacha Hookers where she has served as a board member and President. She volunteers at the Pine Island Food Bank due to a belief that each of us has a responsibility to give back to the community that we live in. She has also served on the boards of the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, The American Legion Auxiliary and on the Community Advisory Board of Florida’s Blood Centers (OneBlood). DJ and her husband Thomas are members of the Moose, the American Legion and the VFW. DJ still plays an active and integral role in all of these organizations. She is presently employed with FineMark Bank & Trust as an investment officer. Make sure to stop by the Queen tent and meet Queen Madam DJ.
The Pine Island Kiwana’s will also be doing a raffle for a Mango Drop where the First Prize is $1000.00! It really is all about the Mango and we hope to see you there!
