Lee County reminds Pine Island residents two more opportunities exist on-island for in-person LeeCares assistance
Fort Myers, FL, April 12, 2024 – Pine Island residents seeking assistance from LeeCares have two more opportunities complete an application with a case manager on-island. LeeCares case managers will be at the Pine Island Public Library, 10701 Russell Road, Bokeelia, on April 17 and April 24 from 10a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
For anyone still seeking in-person assistance for the LeeCares Hurricane Ian Recovery Program after April 24, help is available at the LeeCares Outreach Center, 9400 Gladiolus Drive, Suite 270, Fort Myers. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Lee Board of County Commissioners is committed to Hurricane Ian recovery efforts. Since the Feb. 1 launch of the LeeCares program, Lee County has held 36 outreach events with about 4,000 total attendees. The LeeCares outreach team has informed more than 41,000 households and distributed about 29,000 door hangers.
There are three programs for which individuals can apply:
- The Housing Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Elevation program may assist income-eligible property owners to repair, replace and/or elevate property that suffered hurricane damage.
- The Home Purchase Assistance may assist income-eligible home buyers to purchase a qualifying primary residence outside of the flood zone in Lee County.
- The Voluntary Residential Acquisition program may assist income-eligible homeowners of a repetitive loss property relocate outside of flood-prone areas in Lee County.
