Chairman's Message
“Taste of Pine Island 2012. . . NOW 2 Days!”

Pat Burman, Chairman of the event for over 11 years, wants everyone to know that Pine Island Kiwanians are second to none in actively working for and caring about their community. The Greater Pine Island Kiwanis Club is one of the top Kiwanis clubs in Florida and is made up of area retired and current businessmen and women all who volunteer time for Kiwanis events and have fun doing it. Kiwanis members, their families and other community volunteers run all events; there is no paid staff and virtually all the proceeds benefit Pine Island youth.

While the economy has taken a serious hit, we believe the “Taste” is the best. . .now two day-long food and entertainment value you will find anywhere in SW Florida. Last year the event showcased over 90 vendors and had a packed venue all day. Pat says, “As of

the end of December we have already signed up over 99% of 2012 vendors and have a lot of new vendors. So if you are considering becoming a vendor, get your application now because spaces are going fast.” (editor's note- Vendor's applications are almost closed for 2012)

We just ask that you tell a friend . . .then come, join the thousands who choose to make this an essential yearly pilgrimage, have a good time while enjoying some of Pine Island’s great food and cold drinks, live music and a Beautiful day on Pine Island.

In addition to the “Taste”, other Kiwanis sponsored events and fund-raisers are “Fall Festival” for Pine Island kids and families, held October 31st., chaired by Peggy Cozadd; “Junior Olympics” chaired by Mike Shevlin and held in December, at Phillips Park; “Waterfront Day” chaired by Brian Faulkner and held at Waterfront Restaurant in St. James, in March; and Sales of Pine Island Tervis Tumblers, chaired by Robin Parmerlee, you can purchase the Tervis Tumblers at Taste 2012 and other local businesses.
