Holloway Fishing Tournament
(Continued from page 1)

A $4.00 parking fee was collected from all cars and trucks using the Pineland Marina property. In an effort to dispel any rumor to the contrary, Carolyn Herring wanted to make it clear that Pineland Marina donated all the parking money and that they were doing all they could to help. It was a typical day for Pine Island, the sun was out, the water was calm, a slight breeze was blowing and the fish were biting.
In front of the marina a large tent, tables and chairs were set up for all the anglers. Herring and Marty Crotty were volunteers assigned to watch the table with all the prizes and silent auctions items.  (photo left Ernistine Squires, Bobby's mom and co-chairman Elsie Stearns, Branch Manager at SouthTrust Bank) This was also the table that had the official Bobby Hollaway T-shirt and trophies for the tournament. Randy White was Judge of the Kangaroo Court
and sure looked the part with his long white curly hair which some suggested might not be his own.
This year's fee was $150.00 per 3 anglers and $50.00 for each additional angler. The entry fee included a Capt.'s Dinner supplied by J.D. and Kristin Hollway owners of Waterfront Restaurant and Marina in St. James City. Helping  J.D. with the food serving was Bryan Carnduff, a long time employee of the Waterfront Restaurant, one of the many sponsors of the tournament. Other
sponsors were Joe's Plumbing, Don Gessmann
Construction, Joe Willimanson, Pineland Marina, SouthTrust Bank and Dolphin Realty. Island Daze, a two man band playing “island” style music performed at the tournament.
As the boats began returning to the dock around 2:00 PM, a crowd waited to see the fish  caught by the various teams.  At one point the boats were backed up waiting to get a space at the dock to get their fish measured and logged in. One boat run by Leland Squires and his son Levi, a local father and son

County Presents Resolution to Chris Dohme
After inviting Planning and Construction Director Jim Lavender and Utilities Director Rick Diaz to accompany Mr. Chris Dohme to the podium at the County Commissioners Meeting, March 19, 2002, Commissioner Coy read and presented a Resolution stating that Mr. Dohme, General Manager of the Greater Pine Island Water Association, Inc., has unwaveringly served the people of the Greater Pine Island area for the past 11 years. Coy went on to say that Mr. Dohme was instrumental in creating a unified coalition comprised of all the water utilities in Lee County and that under his leadership the Association has progressed from an isolated rural utility to an integral part of Lee County. In addition mentioning that he retired from the Association on February 26, 2002 and commending Mr. Dohme for his dedication; and conveying the Board's appreciation for his contribution to Lee County. Mr. Dohme accepted the Resolution, introduced and thanked his Staff for their ability to provide an efficient utility, and commended Mr. Lavender and Mr. Diaz for their support.
