1st Annual Bert's Redfish Challenge

Bert's Redfish Challenge is a Charity Fishing Tournament put together to assist people and non profit organizations in Southwest Florida. The 2010 Bert's Redifsh Challenge is going to benefit The Pete Gee Cancer Fund and F.I.S.H. of Pine Island.
Pete Gee is the Assistant Chief of the Fort Myers Shores Fire District in Eastern Lee County, FL. Pete was diagnosed with cancer last year and has been undergoing aggressive treatment ever since. Last Year Bert's Bar and Grill hosted the "We're Fishing for Pete's Sake" fishing Tournament and we were able to raise over $3500.00 for the Pete Gee Cancer Fund.
F.I.S.H. is a non-profit organization on Pine Island that assists residents in need with transportation, obtaining medical supplies, rent payments, utility bills, medical bills, etc. They also provide relief to non-paid primary caregivers for up to 4 hours per week, contact with home-bound individuals by phone and home visits. Furthermore, Pine Island F.I.S.H. is the lead agency in the Pine Island "Basket Brigade" Program. F.I.S.H. is entirely free to those who need their assistance and they are solely funded by donations.

Friday September 3, 2010 - Captains Meeting at Bert's Bar and Grill in Matlacha, FL Saturday September 4, 2010 - honor start at 7am. Weigh in at Bert's Bar and Grill from 11am until 3:30pm. Awards and raffle after weigh in. Charity fishing Tournament for The Pete Gee Cancer Fund and Pine Island F.I.S.H. 1st, 2nd, 3rd get cash prizes and 4th gets free entry to next year's event.
