PINE ISLAND, Fla. (March 25, 2010) – The Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island will hold a “Meeting & Social” for members, guests and the interested general public. It is to be held at the Matlacha Community Center, March 25, from 6:30 pm.
For those of you who can’t make the early Friday morning meetings, but would still like to be a part of the Kiwanis Club, then they have a deal for you. The Kiwanis Club will hold a monthly “Meeting & Social” in the early evening hours. Come out, enjoy a community gathering and see how you can become a part of one of the best organizations on Pine Island. The Kiwianis Club of Greater Pine Island is one of the most successful Kiwanis organizations in Florida. And have a darn good time doing it.
Bring the kids. Volunteers will be on-site to conduct fun activities with the kids. This will allow you some time to relax with other adults who really care about our community and the Island youth. It will be fun and worth your time.
As you may know the Pine Island Kiwanis just held one of their most successful events, “Taste of Pine Island” which is the primary fundraiser for the Kiwanis Pine Island Youth Scholarship Fund. Since 1985, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island has provided well over $200,000 in local scholarships and has helped other Island organizations. The key word here: LOCAL.
The club’s next big fundraiser will be “Waterfront Day” held Saturday, April 3rd, 2010 at Waterfront Restaurant in St. James City. JD and Gina, owners of the Waterfront Restaurant sponsor this event every year. JD has opened his doors for many years to the Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island. Club members will be tying off boats, busing tables, shucking oysters and any thing else JD can find for them to do. In exchange for their work, JD and Gina make a donation to the Kiwanis local scholarship fund. The theme again this year will be “PIRATES INVADE WATERFRONT”. You can enter the treasure hunt and see if you have the best Pirate costume in S.W. Florida. Come on by for “Great Food” and great fun. Come by car or by boat.
