Fort Myers, FL, June 25, 2026 – The Lee County Department of Transportation (DOT) reminds Pine Island residents that sidewalk improvements will begin Monday 6/29, along Stringfellow Road.

Friday morning at approx 7:20 am, a four vehicle involved accident occurred at the intersection of Stringfellow Rd.

We have received a few inquiries from the community related to our announcement of the progress on the Matlacha Drawbridge, which is having mechanical openings this week for the first time since Hurricane Ian.

On Sunday 2-22-26 at about 4pm, the Pine Island/Matlacha Fire Dept. was dispatched to 14141 Harbor Drive where a home fire was fully underway.
